President (former) and current Member Board of Governors of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association
VTLA is dedicated to promoting professionalism within the trial bar, to enhancing the competency of the trial lawyer and preserving the liberties, rights and benefits of an efficient and constitutionally sound judicial system. VTLA is the plaintiff’s trial lawyers bar with a membership of approximately 2,500 lawyers.

Membership is by invitation only. The PAC provides bipartisan support for worthy legislators who understand and support the civil justice system and the right to trial by jury.

The mission is to protect the safety, well-being and dignity of the elderly.

Membership is by nomination. The mission is to promote fellowship, learning and networking among plaintiffs trial lawyers from the 13 southern states. STLA provides the highest quality continuing legal education. The STLA strives to promote and preserve the civil justice system for all people and supports a wide range of philanthropic causes such as the Brain Injury Foundation, the Houston Area Women’s Abuse Center and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The Professionalism Course is mandatory for all Virginia lawyers. The faculty is selected by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia.

The VSB is a voluntary association of lawyers whose mission is to advance the highest ideals of the profession through advocacy and volunteer service.
Member: The Boyd Graves Conference
Membership is by invitation. The Conference is composed of leading lawyers, law professors, judges and appellate judges. It’s mission is to study improvements to the civil justice system and when appropriate to make recommendations to the General Assembly and to the Supreme Court of Virginia.
Member (former): Boyd Graves Evidence Committee
Membership is by invitation and includes prominent lawyers, judges, appellate judges and law professors. It annually publishes A Guide to Evidence in Virginia. After more than 15 years of concerted effort the General Assembly adopted the Committee’s proposed Rules of Evidence which for the first time in Virginia codified the Rules of Evidence. (2012)
